Description:

Cambodia, Khmer, Ca 12th century CE. Bronze statuette of the goddess Uma. Uma stands with her feet firmly planted on a square flat base. The arms are bent at the elbow with hands forward, holding a lotus bulb with the left hand. This Uma figure is beautifully carved and cast in bronze, showing clearly the flower-decorated sampot wrapped around her waist lower in front than in the back, tied on the front and secured by what probably was a golden chain-belt around her hip. All her jewelry, bangles on her upper arms, heavy necklace and traditional ear-rings as well as an open crown/tiara tied at the back of the head and flower decoration on the salong. Wonderful green and azurite blue patina! 4-3/4" H. Provenance: Ex-A. Carafelli Collection. All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.
