Ancient Biblical Judean, Iron Age, Jerusalem, ca. 700 BCE. An attractive red-slip terracotta wine decanter, its graceful body with a curved globular lower section, corseted shoulders, a cylindrical neck, rolled rim, and bifurcated strap handle with everted edges wrapping around the central section of the neck, all on a diminutive raised concave base. These vessels were used in anointing rituals, and are highly sought after. A wonderful example with nice wheel-throwing marks created druing the time of the Israelite monarchy. Size: 5.25" in diameter at widest point x 7.25" H (13.3 cm x 18.4 cm)
