Title and Printers Proof numbers handwritten at lower left. Artist's signature and date handwritten at lower right. A monumental diptych presenting an enchanting Hudson River Valley landscape through artist Joseph DiGiorgio's modernist aesthetic. DiGiorgio draws the viewer in to experience the autumnal colors and the remarkable light effects of the landscape through his unique blend of Pointillism, Fauvism, and Photo Realism. Dot motifs as well as areas of flat color as well as elongated lines come together with vibrant hues to capture a moment in time in a place that inspired the Hudson River School artists during the mid-19th century, more than 100 years before DiGiorgio modernized their legendary visions. A transcendent diptych that conveys the beauty and sublimity of the natural world, mounted in an attractive custom frame behind plexiglass. Size (each sheet): 44" L x 30" W (111.8 cm x 76.2 cm)

About the Artist: Joseph DiGiorgio was born in Brooklyn in 1931. He studied at Cooper Union College in Manhattan, and also took classes with Hans Hoffman in Provincetown, Massachusetts. DiGiorgio is best known for creating monumental images of cherished American landscapes and putting his own modern twist on 19th century American landscape painting.

Please Note: One of these prints went to the New York Public Library, and another went to the Achenbach collection housed at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco.

  • Overall excellent. Title and Printers Proof numbers handwritten at lower left. Artist's signature and date handwritten at lower right. Mounted in an attractive custom frame behind plexiglass. Artwork has not been examined outside the frame but appears to be in excellent condition. 1.5 inch pencil mark on mat (on left side)and minor waviness to small area of mat (a few inches on lower left side). Otherwise framing is very good. Fit with suspension wire.
