Description:

East Asia, Japan, Meiji to Showa era, ca. late 19th to mid-20th century CE. A brass cricket and an elephant ivory netsuke of a rabbit. The cricket is realistic with spindly limbs, and a copper pigment under the clear acrylic wing. The ivory rabbit is a netsuke or okimono - the openwork carving around limbs provides a place to tie a cord to function as a netsuke, although this may have been simply a decorative statue (okimono). Size of rabbit: 1" L x 0.65" W x 1.25" H (2.5 cm x 1.7 cm x 3.2 cm)

This is an ESA antique exempt piece of ivory and cannot be sold internationally or to anyone residing in the states of California, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington. We guarantee that the piece was made prior to 1972.
