A hand-forged steel wakizashi blade presening a distinctive and elegant simplicity with its plain wood shirasaya which is a storage scabbard. The blade is signed in the tachi mei style, though the signature is challenging to read. It likely identifies the maker as Hizen Koku Saga ju Minamoto Yoshifusa, Minamoto Yoshifusa of Hizen Province, Saga suggesting a possible Edo period origin, likely between 1624-1644 during the Kan'ei era. An exceptional piece for collectors of Japanese blades or Edo-period artifacts, this wakizashi offers a unique blend of historical significance and refined craftsmanship.
