Description:

East Asia, Japan, Meiji to Showa era, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. This is a cast brass statue of the Amitabha Buddha, modeled after the iconic 13th-century Kamakura Daibutsu (Great Buddha of Kamakura) from the Kotoku-in Temple. Revered as a historic treasure, the original colossal statue has inspired miniature versions, such as this one, for devotional or decorative purposes. The statue is hollow and sealed by a brass plate on the base. Size: 5.5" L x 4.5" W x 6" H (14 cm x 11.4 cm x 15.2 cm)
