East Asia, Japan, Showa period, ca. 1930. A stunning two-panel Japanese screen featuring a moonlit seascape rendered in mineral pigments on applied silver/gold leaf with a silk brocade border and matte black wooden trim with decorative brass hardware. The composition features rolling waves rising and falling dramatically close to the picture plane as they crest and break before receding back to sea while billowing clouds frame a full moon against the azure sky. Size (open): 68.5" W x 28.75" H (174 cm x 73 cm) Size (closed): 34.25" W x 28.75" H (87 cm x 73 cm)

Please Note: Painting has been tested via x-ray florescence. Mineral pigments are consistent with the period and silver/gold leaf contains traces of gold and silver.

  • Condition: Very good with expected wear commensurate with age and use. Normal surface scuffs to the painting but imagery and hues are still vivid. Some abrasions to the decorative paper backing covering the versos of the panels. Scuffs/nicks to the trim. Our shippers of choice are DHL for International shipments and UPS for domestic shipments, but we are able to ship via other carriers at the buyer's expense as deemed necessary or by request.

For shipments of oversize items, Artemis Gallery will assist the buyer in working with a third-party shipping provider. For shipments outside of the USA, customs and duties may apply upon entry into said country, and this fee, if any, is the buyer's responsibility.
