Japan, Edo Period, ca. 1800 to 1850 CE. Fine bronze water dropper (Suiteka) in rounded form with stippled upper section, handle merging from the mouth of some form of zoomorphic creature. Vessels such as this were used to drip small amounts of water on ink stones for use in Japanese calligraphy. Size: 2.5" L x 1.5" H (6.4 cm x 3.8 cm)
