James Lacasse (American, XX-XXI). "Two Worlds … One Past" bronze, edition 8 of 15. Signed, numbered, and titled on the bronze (in water by cluster of boulders - see photos). A mesmerizing bronze sculpture of a fly fisherman by award-winning Colorado artist James Lacasse. The bronze is rendered in two parts - one section featuring the fisherman wading in a river while extending his line AND a second section featuring his catch leaping out of the water near a cluster of boulders. These sections are mounted on a hand-carved wooden base and visually linked by the fisherman's line. Finally, a beautiful piece of inlaid marble suggests the expanse between them. Size (including wooden base): 11.5" L x 34.5" W x 9.7" H (29.2 cm x 87.6 cm x 24.6 cm)

Artist's Statements: "In my sculpture, I attempt to reflect on the essence of what makes us human. To me, this is a realm that resembles a magical kaleidoscope of feeling and emotion. It is the beauty, wonder, struggle, playfulness and connection that make up the comedy and drama of the human experience. My sculpture aspires to make light of, and give insight into this curious world. " "I have taken a mostly informal route to learning about bronze casting and the creation of sculpture. Extensive study in human anatomy and working with a local foundry have given me the tools to express my unique variety of bronze sculpture."
