Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Manabi province, Jamacoaque, (Jama Coaque) culture, ca. 500 CE. A large polychrome terracotta standing figure, in hues of orange, coral, and slate gray, with a bulbous head and red headband, stylized ear adornments, almond-shaped eyes, protruding nose with nose ring, and parted mouth. A cream-hued necklace hangs across a broad chest , and short arms are held across the chest with long legs underneath. The head also has a large and intentional hole on the reverse side. A wonderful and vibrant example of this ancient culture with much remaining pigment! Size: 2.625" L x 3.5" W x 8.5" H (6.7 cm x 8.9 cm x 21.6 cm); 10" H (25.4 cm) on included custom stand.
