Description:

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Jamacoaque (Jama Coaque) culture, ca. 500 BCE to 500 CE. A hand-built pottery figural vessel of a male cacique, a respected village elder, with incised wrinkles across several areas of the face. The vessel body is spherical with a flared rim, and the figure's arms, legs, and phallus project from the exterior surfaces. The head rises from in front of the rim and features a septum ring, a labret piercing, and crescent-shaped eyes. Faint remains of orange pigment are visible across the head and body. Size: 7.5" L x 6.75" W x 7.125" H (19 cm x 17.1 cm x 18.1 cm)
