Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Jamacoaque (Jama Coaque), ca. 500 CE. A hollow-built pottery figure presenting a pensive pose with both hands held atop folded legs. The raised head exhibits expressive and finely-preserved facial features, and above is a sharply crested helmet with rabbit-ear lappets on the sides. Size: 4.5" W x 6.75" H (11.4 cm x 17.1 cm)
