Description:

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Jama Coaque, ca. 500 to 1000 CE. A fabulous, mold-made pottery whistle in the form of a seated figure elaborately dressed in a large blue headdress that is adorned with either a beak or a horn, a garment of the same robin's egg blue hue decorated with white feather-like motifs, leg bands, arm bands, orange round ear ornaments, and an impressive pectoral with a large shell-shaped pendant. Beyond this fanciful attire, the details of his visage are meticulously delineated. A wonderful figural whistle with gorgeous coloration from the ancient Jama Coaque culture that works beautifully. Helpful hint: the blow hole is located on his bum! It makes a lovely sound. Size: 2" W x 3.875" H (5.1 cm x 9.8 cm)
