Description:

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Jamacoaque (Jama Coaque), ca. 500 BCE to 500 CE. A wonderful pottery figure displaying vibrant pigments and an unusual pair of curved wings emanating out from the shoulders. The figure presents standing atop a tapered conical base adorned with rings of color, and the figure leans slightly forward from his perch with his 'wings' held slightly back to balance. The expressive face, spotted cap, and stippled wings create a unique presentation often unseen in Jamacoaque artistry! Size: 2.8" L x 6.75" W x 4.625" H (7.1 cm x 17.1 cm x 11.7 cm); 6.8" H (17.3 cm) on included custom stand.
