Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 200 BCE to 200 CE. A female shaft tomb figure striking a classic kneeling pose with characteristically attenuated arms and nicely delineated fingers extending to her sides, nude except for a tightly-fitted headdress, her naked chest revealing ample breasts that emphasize her fertility. What's most wondrous is the expressive visage gracing her elongated head; the artistry and skill of the sculptor brings this figure to life with those huge coffee bean shaped eyes, long and prominent nose, toothy grin, and exaggeratedly, large earlobes. Nice manganese deposits on redware surface reveal how this lady has withstood the tests of time. Size: 8" W x 9" H (20.3 cm x 22.9 cm)
