Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, San Juanito, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A bichrome, hollow-molded standing female shaft tomb figure painted with red and cream details over gray slip with a characteristic elongated face and tall headdress. Her expressive visage is comprised of slit eyes, a pronounced aquiline nose, and a wide open slit mouth. Nude except for a painted loincloth, she displays large, prominent breasts, and is elaborately decorated with "feather" earrings, arm bands, red foot coverings, and that grand headdress. Size: 2.375" L x 6.125" W x 11.625" H (6 cm x 15.6 cm x 29.5 cm).

Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired between 1969 and 1985
