Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, San Juanito, ca. 200 BCE to 200 CE. A skillfully modeled bichrome pottery seated, perhaps hunchback figure posed with his left arm under his chin and left hand placed upon the wrist of his right hand which rests upon his right knee. Possessing a characteristically elongated head, he presents a rather tranquil visage comprised of slit eyes and mouth, a long, protruding nose, and angular ears. He wears a crossed headband of applied and incised coils, and his body is painted in red and white slip. A wonderful example with nice manganese deposits. Size: 3.75" W x 5.125" H (9.5 cm x 13 cm)
