Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery figure seated upon attenuated legs and wearing a knee-length skirt. Her nude upper body boasts ample breasts and rounded shoulders, with her bent left arm placed behind her head and her right arm extended outward with an open hand. A prominent nose, impressed ovoid eyes, a thin mouth, and cupped ears with discoid ear spools comprise her expressive countenance, and her elongated brow is covered with a belted cap. Vibrant red slip adorns her body from lower torso to just beneath her nose, and pale orange pigment covers the upper half of her face. An intriguing example of ancient shaft-tomb pottery! Size: 10.875" W x 14.375" H (27.6 cm x 36.5 cm).
