Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, Ameca style, Protoclassic period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A wonderful hand-built terracotta standing anthropomorphic warrior figure with arched feet, wide-spread legs, and delineated male genitalia. A pair of flush arms hold a lengthy club horizontally in front of a wide torso, and rounded shoulders trace inwards to a thick neck. His expressive countenance exhibits a slight-parted mouth, recessed coffee-bean eyes, flared ears adorned with hoop-form rings, and a prominent nose, all capped with an intricate pronged headband. Colored with a red-orange slip, this is a wonderful example from ancient Western Mexico! Size: 12.5" H (31.8 cm).
