Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. This is a small figure of a female in a classic Jalisco pose: seated, one arm behind the head, and one arm down at her side with the hand out. She waers a headband, skirt, and some decoration on her shoulder; she may also have signs of scarification, a common Jalisco practice, on her face. This figure would have been placed inside of a tomb in the West Mexican shaft tomb tradition. Size: 6-1/4" H x 4-1/2" W x 3" L (19 cm x 11 cm x 8 cm).

Provenance: Ex-private Olan collection, California, by family descent, acquired 1960 to 1970.
