Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hollow-molded redware pottery dog effigy vessel, standing on all fours and carrying a vessel on its back. While most collectors of Pre-Columbian pottery are familiar with puppies coming from the Colima region, ceramic canines from Jalisco are relatively rare. The puppy's expressive visage presents an endearing upturned, pig-like snout, an open mouth with tongue hanging out as if panting, rounded eyes, pointy ears, delineated spine, and a perky tail. Size: 8.125" L x 5.375" W x 5.625" H (20.6 cm x 13.7 cm x 14.3 cm)
