Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery figure of a tattooed woman nude with globular breasts protruding over a rounded belly. She stands upon thick, delineated legs, holds a deep offering bowl above one shoulder, and peers forward with generously-lidded eyes. Remains of red and black pigment are visible across the composition and allude to how elaborate this would have appeared when first created. Size: 6.5" W x 10.7" H (16.5 cm x 27.2 cm)

Provenance: ex-Arte Primitivo, New York, New York, USA; ex-Kalman collection, Arcadia, California, USA; ex-private Southern California, USA collection
