Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery figure of a seated male whimsically balancing a decorated vase on its head. The figure is dressed in cream colored polka-dotted leg garments and striped shoulder pads. The figure has W-shaped ears adorned with two earrings each. His visage has painted features including a circular mouth, ring-shaped eyes, and a protruding nose beneath a wide brow. The vase atop his head is decorated with a cream-hued circular motif. A wonderful example! Size: 3.75" W x 6.25" H (9.5 cm x 15.9 cm)
