Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. An outstanding bi-chrome terracotta seated female figure, skillfully modeled and presenting with a rich russet red and cream finish. The figure looks ahead with a characteristically oversized head and an expressive visage comprised of bold features - large, almond-shaped eyes, arched brows, an aquiline nose, and a wonderful toothy grin - all topped by an attractive headdress with crisscrossed headbands. Her attenuated arms are held way from her sides, her perky breasts are accentuated, and her rounded shoulders are adorned with applied pellets. A special example from this shaft tomb culture. Size: 10.625" W x 13.75" H (27 cm x 34.9 cm)
