Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, Ameca style, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-built bichrome terracotta kneeling female figure, holding her hands to her chest just below her breasts, her face presenting an expressive visage comprised of coffee bean shaped eyes, a protruding nose, and open mouth as if singing, chanting, or speaking. Though for the most part nude, she is highly decorated with a multistrand 'beaded' necklace, nose ring, armbands, earrings, and a waist wrap. Liberally covered with creamy white slip with red details. Size: 3.875" W x 5.625" H (9.8 cm x 14.3 cm)
