Description:

Jack Bryant Sr. (American, 1929-2012). "Trail of Bones" copper sculpture, n.d. Signed with title and edition number (19/20) on edge of base. Plaque with title and artist on front of custom wood base. An evocative copper sculpture titled "Trail of Bones" by American artist Jack Bryant Sr. depicting a Native American on horseback as he holds a spear in one hand and turns back to look at the trail behind him. Holding one hand to his brow, presumably to shield his face from the hot desert sun, the rider wears only a loincloth and moccasins with a quiver carrying a bow, arrows, and sword is strapped to his bare chest and a medallion hangs from his chest. His noble steed bends over to investigate a bull skull, bones scattering the ground beneath, a clear reference to the sculpture's title - "Trail of Bones." Size of sculpture: 5" L x 11.5" W x 10.9" H (12.7 cm x 29.2 cm x 27.7 cm); w/ custom stand: 5.75" L x 13.25" W x 12" H (14.6 cm x 33.7 cm x 30.5 cm)
