Near East, Islamic world, ca. 10th to 13th century CE. A handbuilt ceramic salt dish with wide rim and inset bowl, glazed a saturated turquoise blue with a golden iridescence in places as shown. The style is similar to Nishapur, but the use of fine red clay instead of coarse white indicates that it was made in another part of the Islamic world. Size: 3.625" W x .625" H (9.2 cm x 1.6 cm)
