Medieval Near East / Western Asia, Persia, Nishapur or Kashan, Islamic culture, ca. late 10th to early 13th century CE. A sumptuous oinochoe of an attractive form that is hand-built from quartz-based pottery and embellished with highly iridescent alkaline glaze of a blue-green hue. The piriform pitcher is supported by a squat foot and has a slender strap handle arching between the midsection of the body as well as the back rim of the trefoil-style pouring spout. Faint black-painted frets further adorn the body and allude to just how opulent this vessel appeared when first created. Size: 4.7" W x 7.375" H (11.9 cm x 18.7 cm)

Light encrustations and extensive weathering film to glazed surfaces. Nice remains of glaze color and stunning iridescence throughout.
