Description:

Ancient Near East, Islamic, ca. 10th to 14th century CE. A stunning and I mean STUNNING glass unguentarium of a classic, elongated cylindrical form with a magnificent feathered pattern throughout and an everted rim. The glass presents a jet black hue, and the surface has developed a beautiful silvery iridescence. A vessel as special as this would have been used to keep fragrant oils or precious cosmetics. A striking example with dramatic black coloring rivaling that of onyx! Size: 3.5" H (8.9 cm); 4.25" H (10.8 cm) on included custom stand.
