Description:

Ancient Near East, Islamic, ca. 9th to 10th century CE. A lovely glass bottle of a pale, near-opaque yellow color with a concave base and smooth pontil scar, a bulbous body with dozens of raised nubbin-shaped bulbs, a rolling shoulder leading to a tubular neck, and a thick rolled rim. Adding to its attractive appearance are thick areas of fiery rainbow-hued iridescence in amethyst, citrine, emerald, sapphire, turquoise, and ruby colors, with scattered sections of silvery, black, and golden iridescence as well. Though the iridescence on this vessel is stunning in the photographs, it looks absolutely jaw-dropping in person! Size: 3" W x 4.125" H (7.6 cm x 10.5 cm).
