Ancient Near East, Persian Empire, ca. 10th to 12th century CE. A discoid mirror cast from bronze (decorated side) and leaded bronze (bottom) via the lost wax technique with a raised rim, a protruding central nodule, and a flat verso that bears remains of its original high polish. The front of the mirror exhibits intricate curvilinear motifs that surround a quartet of teardrop-form emblems, each with additional projections sprouting from the rounded tops. Mottled layers of brown and green patina cover the composition and create an elegant presentation. Lucite display stand for photography purposes only. Size: 4.4" Diameter (11.2 cm)
