First Nations, Northern Canada, Inuit, ca. mid-20th century CE. A hand-carved scene rendered in soapstone depicting a hunter with a seal, holding a bone and leather spear aloft in one hand. The seal, man, and inflated seal skin float are carved separately from the base and attached via wood pegs and can be rearranged. Signed in syllabics on the base and the number "204068." Size: 5.5" L x 2.6" W x 5" H (14 cm x 6.6 cm x 12.7 cm)
