First Nations, Canada, Inuit, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A hand-carved soapstone sculpture of a hunter standing on thick legs with his arms raised, clutching a wooden spear. The underside of one foot is carved with indiscernible Inuktitut syllabics and has a Canadian igloo sticker. The "Igloo Tag" was introduced by the Canadian government in 1958 to authenticate Inuit art and promote economic opportunities for these artists.
