Description:

Central Asia, Indus Valley, Harappan / Mohenjo-Daro civilization, ca. 2700 to 2000 BCE. A small wheel-thrown terracotta bowl with a squat footed base, rolled walls, a deep interior cavity, and a thin rim. The exterior has a decorative program of concentric geometric designs, a large grazing ibex, and an amusing recumbent lion with a sinuous tail and a flowing mane, all in vibrant hues of yellow, orange-red, and green. The upper portion of the rim interior is decorated in a solid brown band, and the remainder of the vessel has a light-beige color. An attractive example of some of the earliest forms of Indus Valley pottery! Size: 2.375" H (6 cm).
