Ancient Central Asia, Indus Valley, Mehrgarh culture, ca. 3500 to 2800 BCE. A hand-built pottery fertility idol exhibiting characteristically feminine details. The figure presents with bent legs as if sitting on a chair and has wide hips beneath a dramatically corseted waistline. Ample breasts are shown between her rounded shoulders, and her tab-shaped head bears impressed eyes, a petite nose, and an incised, arch-shaped coiffure. Size: 1.4" W x 4.125" H (3.6 cm x 10.5 cm)
