Central Asia, Persia & India, Mughal culture, ca. early to mid-20th C. A charming storage box made from gilt brass with enamel inlays, and wood panels inserted inside. The scrolling vine and floral motifs with a seated figure and stylized lions and birds are characteristic of Persian and Indian Mughal artistry- the lions have human faces, a mythical creature known as a manticore. Size: 4.3" L x 3.2" W x 3.5" H (10.9 cm x 8.1 cm x 8.9 cm)
