Description:

South Asia, India, ca. 900 to 1300 CE. A hand-carved stone relief panel of an arched form featuring two figures delineated in high relief. To the left is a crowned, four-armed goddess, perhaps Parvati - goddess of fertility, beauty, love, marriage, harmony, children, and devotion in addition to divine strength and power, holding various attributes in her hands. Beside her is a more petite female, perhaps a child or an attendant, standing with hands pressed together in prayerful state. Both figures look forward with beautiful visages presenting delicate features and curvaceous forms draped with ankle-length garments. Size: 5.75" W x 7.5" H (14.6 cm x 19 cm)
