Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 100 BCE to 200 CE. An exceptionally long sash, finely woven from camelid fibers (either llama or alpaca wool) in shades of red, yellow ochre, and chocolate brown. The iconography of this piece is particularly rich, including depictions of temple steps, crosses, zigzags, and Greek key motifs. This type of sash would have been used to wrap around the body of a deceased elite individual. A vibrant and vivd large work of textile art from the ancient Nazca culture of Peru! Size: 15' 11"
