Description:

Roman, early Imperial Period, ca. 1st century CE. A gorgeous free-blown vessel of a translucent, aqua-blue glass with a slight concave base, a perfectly rounded, apple-shaped body, a slightly-recessed neck base tracing upwards to a tubular neck, and a thick, in-folded rim. Dense areas of rainbow iridescence coat most of the interior, so thick that it almost looks like melted silver. A finely-executed example of utilitarian Roman glass! Size: 3.65" W x 5.55" H (9.3 cm x 14.1 cm)

#139612

  • Condition: Intact. Incredible iridescence. Encrustation in vessel mouth. The vessel once had a pontil mark, indicating that it was free blown rather than mold made, but that has been smoothed away over time.
