Description:

Spain, showing Moorish influence, ca. 17th to 18th century CE. An absolutely stunning and quite amusing iron door knocker. Large iron panel with scrolled decoration, attached to back panel is an emerging head of a deer supporting two snakes or lizards (I have personally never seen a snake with legs - although they do exist - or a lizard this long and serpentine), with another deer's head at the junction of the two reptilians. This deer head pounds against a small rectangular iron plate. A stunning look for any castle! Size: 16" L x 9-1/2" W. Provenance: Ex-Sarkisian Gallery, Denver, CO acquired around 1950. All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. #108274
