Description:

Roman, early Imperial Period, ca. 1st century CE. A fabulous free-blown cup made from near-opaque, cobalt-blue glass with a rounded base and smooth pontil scar, globular walls, a lightly-corseted neck, and a flared rim with a smooth, ground-down lip. A pair of thin wheel-cut striations enclose a larger striation around the midsection, and a single wheel-cut line adorns the indented neck line. Fiery layers of silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence envelop the interior and exterior surfaces and make this an attractive and exemplary testament to Roman glass-blowing artistry! Size: 3.2" W x 2" H (8.1 cm x 5.1 cm).
