Description:

Roman Empire, late Republic to early Imperial, ca. 1st century BCE to 1st century CE. Small but magnificent! Incredibly detailed bronze bust, probably used as a steelyard weight. Based on the hair style this shows the influence and importance the concept of Greek philosophical ideals had on the Roman elite. Curly beard and front locks with close-cut wavy hair behind. He wears a mantel that wraps around his chest and flows up over his left shoulder. Eyes were inlaid with silver to give them a heightened intensity. Size: 1.625" W x 2.325" H (4.1 cm x 5.9 cm); 4" H (10.2 cm) on included custom stand.
