Southeast Asia, Cambodia, Khmer, ca. 12th to 14th century CE. A remarkable bronze cast sculpture of a shrine or temple in four distinct sections. Each side the parapet adorned with a Buddha triad in its facade, seated meditative Buddhas at the corners, surmounted by a row of seated meditative Buddhas, another row of seated meditative Buddhas, and finally a pointed finial comprised four faces of Buddha, all supported by a base which is also adorned with seated meditative Buddhas and Buddhas in front of mandorlas for feet. Within the shrine are four dancing Buddhist figurines that are removable. A work of remarkable artistry and intricate detail!
