Pre-Columbian, Peru, central highlands, Ca 1400 CE. A fabulous and showy textile bag - shown opened and mounted to textile backing - ready to be framed. Lower section woven in multiple spripes in hues in shades of red, brown, green, yellow and slate blue. Upper section woven in royal Tokapu design with series of four zoomorphs/avians in a blue background within a near white field highlighted with added green and red crosses. Measuring 31" W by 11" H.

Provenance: Ex-private Hawaii collection, ex Westermann collection acquired prior to 1960.
