Description:

Pre-Columbian, Peru, Inca, ca. 1500 CE. An incredibly rare artifact, this stone model of an Inca fortress akin to the legendary Machu Picchu was a prototype used by Inca architects for designing, planning, and building a fortress and/or city. Inca stone fitters demonstrated the utmost precision and held functionality as well as a pristine "less is more" philosophy (pre-dating the modern architect Mies Van Der Rohe who coined this phrase) in high esteem. Not sure when we will come across such an unusual artifact again! Mounted on custom, museum-quality stand. 10"L x 7"W. Provenance: Ex-H.J. Westermann collection, Germany, acquired in 1950s. All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. #101447
