Description:

South America, Peru, Post Conquest Inca, ca. 15th to 16th century CE. An interesting miniature votive bronze axe blade with a figural handle and suspension loop. The stylized woman has a large eye, protruding nose, necklace over exposed breasts, and clasped hands- the flattened blade forming a skirt. The verso displays a lengthy, incised coiffure - her hairstyle and stance are similar in style to huacas, miniature figurines used as offerings. Size: 2.5" L x 0.5" W (6.4 cm x 1.3 cm)
