Description:

Pre-Columbian, Southern Peru, Inca hinterlands (Chucu), ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A hand-carved pottery plaque with rough peripheries, a convex verso with highly burnished surfaces, and a concave front face. Decorating the obverse are registers of repeating squares arranged diagonally in matte hues of red-orange, light orange, and pale salmon-pink as well as a metallic, steel-grey pigment that glints in the light. Lucite display stand for photography purposes only. Size: 3.875" W x 4.25" H (9.8 cm x 10.8 cm).
