Pre-Columbian, Southern Peru, Inca hinterlands (Chucu), ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A colorful, hand-carved pottery plaque with rough peripheries, a convex verso with a highly burnished surface, and a concaved verso. Its obverse is painted in a playful checkered arrangement of yellow, teal, red, as well as a metallic, steel-gray pigment that glints in the light - a melodic interplay of colors.
