Pre-Columbian, Guatemala, Maya region, ca. 500 to 900 CE. Maya jade plaque in the form of a lord in profile. Carved from a greenish-brown jade using all of the natural form of the stone (indicative of authentic Maya jade carvings) with the lord looking right with his mouth open, large earspool just behind his head, large pectoral on his chest and numerous other elements throughout. A nice example! Size: 1.45" W x 4.125" H (3.7 cm x 10.5 cm)

Provenance: private Los Angeles County, California, USA collection, acquired by descent from the owner's father, collection amassed between 1950-1990
