Description:

**Originally Listed At $750**

Greek, Athens, Attic Period, 5th century BCE. The upper portion of an elaborate, valuable, cast bronze oinochoe, a pouring vessel, with a trefoil lip and a tall handle that stands above the body of the vessel. The handle has an elaborate construction: it is tripartite, with roundels and half-roundels where it meets the narrow, flat rim. Flat panels join the handle to the inside of the spout and the exterior of the shoulder. Full-size oinochoe like this one are often found in graves as offerings, and they also seem to have been a major part of monumental sculpture. Size: 7.75" L x 7.75" W x 7.85" H (19.7 cm x 19.7 cm x 19.9 cm).
